Mixed Media

I have been creating some mixed media frames

I have mounted some of my needle felted photos of my creations 

And then added flowers, leaves and ferns to the frames.

Because they cost hardly anything to make I have listed them at under $15 each in my Etsy shop

I have returned from my Summer Vacation and placed everything back into my Etsy and Felt shops.

My Summer Garden

Yesterday I took my camera out into my garden

My husband is the chief gardener

We have been Organic for 25 years

We have growing at the moment,Corn Maize for the hens,

Lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, silver beet, carrots, potatoes, beans, rhubarb, spring onions, cabbage, pumpkins

And in the Berry patch, Boysenberries and Raspberries 

Their is nothing I like better than going out into the garden and picking fresh

The Heart of the Home

 

When you walk through the entrance way, you walk into my kitchen

I am always amazed at the beautiful glowing light that shines out

My husband made the table 25 years ago

The wood panels are all recycled

The black and white lino, is just as good as when we laid it all those years ago  

I still use my wood stove to cook on and heat water daily

It is my heart, and makes me smile, it is a joy to come home to

I  cook very simple meals here 

And many interesting chats have been had around the table.

Natural Inspiration

My home inspires me, 

I am surrounded by Mother Nature

I live 800 feet above sea level

The air is fresh and pure

This feeling is imbued into my needle felt art

This feeling of lightness 

This feeling of warmth

This feeling of being able to breathe out into the world

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

I do enjoy making the fairy tale "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs"

It has a happy ending, and I like happy endings.

The Young Prince

I did enjoy making all these young princes

How very brave they all are with their golden swords

They have all gone to customers

I had to do a bit of sewing, on the crowns and capes,

I am no sewer, but they turned out just fine.

This young Prince was inspired after meeting Katherine's young son Ben.

Last week I received a very simple brief

Make two Summer pictures

I was eating Strawberries at the time, and thought, I will make a Strawberry Lady

Summer colors always have a stronger palette. I tend to always dress the child in red

The images are still soft though, but have more of a stronger Summer feel to them.

I thought I would share with you all, my friends, my age

Which happens to be 56

At 56 one is relatively sorted

Having said that, one is still thrown a curve ball from time to time

This message is just to say, that life is a journey

And one must bring light to every situation

And that the lesson to be learned is not about the another person, but about how YOU deal  with the situation
