A little Blue Child

Blue is not my favorite color

I hardy ever make blue items

I wonder if it is related to the word Blue

"I am blue" etc

My energy changes when I work with it

Interesting.
I also do not wear blue as a color

Nativity Tableau

Yesterday I made this lovely Nativity Tableau

I will take it into a local Art cafe where I sell my work

It is too big to ship overseas

I enjoyed creating it

Spring's emergence

Last week we had snow flurries,  this week the sun is shinning and Spring has arrived

Pink Blosson is starting to appear

Daffodils are out

 It is cold enough to still need a fire at night

I found some pink wool at the bottom of my basket

And made this Spring wreath

 Now this was fun to make

A farmer with one of his sheep

I went outside into the orchard to find a stick for him to carry

Making wreaths

I felt like a change

So I sat and covered a wreath with golden yellow wool

Then added white wool yarn

I found some glitter wings and added a fairy and glitter acorns

And low and behold, I had made a wreath

I think tomorrow I might make some more

I think she is nice for the coming Winter / Christmas season 

I have lots of ideas spinning around in my head

Settler's Museum Exhibition

My nearest Small town has a Settler's Museum

I was asked if I would like to have a small display of some of my needle felt art

 The focus is an exhibition all about wool

What fun to join in with my local community

New Angel Pictures

 My sister is involved with a Waldorf Kindergarten

Many of  the young Mother's have new babes

This always inspires me to create Angels carrying babes

Bringing new life down to earth and placing the babe in a Mother's arms

 I never tire of making these, they are a joy.

Snow flurries

Snow swirled around my home yesterday

I could see snow laden hills in the distance

So I decided to make a Father Christmas

Anti-smacking

New Zealand has a high rate of child abuse and violence towards children

There are lots of reasons for this

Poor housing , lack of education, no money,  high unemployment to name a few

Prior  to the Anti-smacking law change of 2009

I would see Mother's whacking their children in the supermarket and street

Now I see them still annoyed with their child, but restraining themselves because the public is viewing them 

This gives the Mother the time to breathe, and so when they finally get to the car, it might have blown over

And the child is free from the fear that violence creates

I am a supporter of talking  to the child

Physical discipline is not the answer

Bright Star

A thing of Beauty is a joy forever"

I have just seen "Bright Star" again with my husband this time

The movie about the romantic English poet John Keats and his love for Fanny 

I so enjoyed the movie and the clothes and language, that I made  this picture.
Set in 1818, Fanny is standing in a field of purple and blue flowers

It brought back to me this picture I made a year ago, which has gone out into the world.

My we are busy Mother's aren't we

Sweeping the path 

There is always sweeping to be done

I have just finished this large Mother Earth 

She stands 10 inches high

I think she is rather nice

A local Honey Bee store has requested some Bee Badges

I have never made needle felted badges before

I was pleased with how they turned out

We had 3 Bee hives for 15 years, but do not have them now
