Winter Child

Ten years ago I spotted 3 of these wee dolls in a store

They have been sitting in my cupboard 

I thought I would give them a wool muff

And place them on this tree

They have a vintage feel to them

The golden crowns have dimmed over time

Though this is technically a Snow glitter maiden

I love the wicker basket she is in

I might call her my Willow maid
I am keen on Maidens
They evoke purity which is rather cool

I found a few box frames in the cupboard

My husband made me a bamboo drying rack years ago

It hangs in the lounge above my pot belly stove

It is real handy for drying and airing clothes

Sending Love and light

Love is the answer

I do not love enough

I am guilty

I know there is a need in the world today for more love and light

A few years ago I was told to do my needle felt art and send it out into the world

By doing this people's hearts would be warmed

Flames would be ignited again that had burned down low

Light would come into a person's eyes 

And their spirit would be calmed

It is times like these in Norway that I need to remember to love more

All races, colors, creeds etc

It is a reminder for me to think love, be love and give love.

Norway's sadness - Safe in the arms of Angel's

My heart goes out to the people of Norway

Their loved ones are now safely  in the arm's of Angel's

Mohair Princess

I spotted this Mohair shawl in a second hand shop

It was damaged on one corner

I decided to make a little shawl for a princess

Princesses  can not have enough shawls in their castle closets

I am smiling

Green Green

Softly she walked through the greenery 

The only thing that sparkled was her coat

Gold stars and pearls shone out

There was a fine mesh waistcoat

Made by an enchanted  spider

She walked on green leaves

And soft was her tread

Subterranean Wonder

Deep underground the gnomes were busy guarding all the crystals and treasures.

Sometimes they wear one around their necks,

This was great because it guided their way in the dark. 

The light shone out brightly, and illuminated the caves.

I preserved 30 jars of apples

My husband works on an apple orchard

So I am pretty good at making recipes up with apples

My favorite is apple sponge

Followed by apple pie

Rainbow Children

Being Winter in New Zealand,

I am warm and snug creating

Surrounded by the warmth of a wood fire

Years ago I spotted this lovely small Rainbow silk cloth

I brought it out yesterday and it inspired me to make these little Rainbow Children

The importance of fresh air

My little swing girl

Seeking fresh air for our children to swing in is important

Swinging is good for the brain and fresh air taken into the lungs on a daily basis  is great

Sometimes a child can go from the indoor home enviroment to the indoor creche

Then back home to be indoors again

A healthy child needs to be lifted up to see the sun by day 

And the moon by night

From an early age communion with Nature should be taught

This is why swinging is so good

See if you can put a swing in the backyard

When my children were young they were never off it.

The Frost Fairies

Cloaked in  veils of Greyish white

Frost Fairies flew over my home just before dawn

Leaving behind a trail of white

The crispness of Grey

The sharpness underfoot
