Someone approximately 30 years was maybe having a picnic on the banks of this local river, which is near my home. They threw away the peach stone, and it started to grow. I have been busy preserving peaches from this tree.
Being wild they are delicious, maybe it is an old strain, it is untouched by sprays, and hard to spot from the road. I left enough for other people who might enjoy them as well.
Love and light Marie

ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful to have your own fruit to pick and enjoy later! And your home looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have access to this fruit. The old varieties have a special something about them.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely, and I love that we are also at opposite ends of the season.
ReplyDeleteToday we made the first jam of the year, as things warm up and strawberries ripen. There is just something so homely about preserving fresh fruit to enjoy at a later date.
Wonderful Marie, we have just started preserving and used some windfall pears for our first attempt and we are looking forward to enjoying them soon. How lucky for you to have those gorgeous peaches.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds delicious, I can almost envision the delicious smell there must have been in your kitchen. Its sort of funny, to read about the bounty of harvest time, while here we are just beginning to enjoy the beauty and warmth of spring ...
ReplyDeleteWhat a find Marie - a wild peach tree - fabulous :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic. We planted an apple and a peach tree last year to hopefully do the same...too bad we have to wait several years to get enough.
